From Monday 26 to Friday 30 October, the Cap d'Agde sailing centre and port host the Opti Cup: sailors born between 2011 and 2017, from France and abroad, race in Optimist dinghies. The event is on the French Sailing Federation calendar.

For its 4th edition, the Arts et Cultures association’s celebration starts in the afternoon with activities on the allées Baroncelli and a parade through the town centre. In the evening, Parc Jean-Hugo hosts a horror trail full of monsters and fantastic creatures, followed by music; the organisers estimate around 3,000 people take part over the day, most of them in costume.
On 6 and 7 November, Sète's Michèle-Weil university centre hosts the first Jeu & Écologie Festival, devoted to games that help people understand environmental issues. After a day for professionals, Saturday is open to all, with activities, game discovery, an escape game and meetings with designers.
On Sunday 8 November at 9:30 am, the Sète Urban Trail, "le Défi du Mont Saint-Clair", starts from the Esplanade Roger-Thérond. Four formats between sea, lagoon and hill: 20 km, 13 km, 8 km running and an 8 km walk, open to all levels. Online registration.
What to do this weekend? Autumn & half-term
On Fridays 23 and 30 October, from 10 to 11:30 am, a free guided tour leaves the Vias tourist office to tell the story of the Canal du Midi, the Libron works and the engineers behind them. Groups are limited to 30 people.
From Saturday 24 to Saturday 31 October, the 24th national and international chess meeting in Cap d'Agde offers five classical opens for all levels, a rapid tournament, evening blitz games and, on Thursday 29 October at 8:30 pm, a women's challenge match.
From 28 October to 1 November, the 27th edition of this free show expects around 250 exhibitors and nearly 500 sail and motor boats, afloat or on land, with test sails, demonstrations, talks and a focus on protecting the marine environment. Vendée Globe winner Yannick Bestaven is its patron, and an international Optimist regatta for young sailors born between 2011 and 2017 is held at the Centre Nautique from 26 to 30 October.
