On 10–11 October, on the fish auction car park, the association Les Copains d’abord welcomes producers from the Bay of Saint-Brieuc and stalls of Mediterranean specialities, including tielles, oysters and tuna. Local artists and makers also take part; entry is free (Saturday 10am–10pm, Sunday 10am–5pm).
Launched in 2022 by the association Les Copains d’Abord, with support from the town of Sète, the “Festival of the Scallop and Exceptional Mediterranean Produce” is now in its 5th edition. After last year’s success, producers from the Bay of Saint-Brieuc are coming back with far larger quantities of scallops, along with a few Breton specialities, while new stalls showcase exceptional produce from the Mediterranean.
The festival sets up on Quai Maximin Licciardi, on the very spot where the port’s wholesale fresh-fish auction usually takes place. Live music, a bar and food stalls keep both days going, and the site is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
The weekend also has a charitable purpose: it directly supports the association Et Après, which helps young adults with autism or cognitive disabilities after the age of 20, a turning point when suitable support is sorely lacking.
