On 6 and 7 November, auction house Primardeco launches "Les Automnales" at the Théâtre des Variétés in Béziers, a new free event devoted to art, heritage and collecting. It runs in three acts: a talk on 19th-century Béziers collectors, an exhibition by painter Emmanuel Michel and an auction held on stage.
On Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November 2026, auction house Primardeco launches "Les Automnales" at the Théâtre des Variétés in Béziers, a recently restored venue reopened by the Béziers Méditerranée conurbation. Entry is free.
The aim is to put auctions back on stage, quite literally, at a time when they increasingly happen online. The event is built like a play in three acts, each offering a different experience.
The first act is a talk by the Société archéologique de Béziers on the city's 19th-century collectors, who helped preserve and pass on objects and works tied to the region's history. The second is an exhibition devoted to Emmanuel Michel, a travelling painter, sculptor, draughtsman and engraver whose work centres on people and everyday life.
The final act is a multi-category auction ranging from the Napoleon III era to Art Deco by way of Art Nouveau, a style that echoes the theatre's décor. Members of the public can enter their own items after a free valuation by the auctioneers.
